Nelson Mandela   Timeline

1918 - Born in Transkei.
1942-Qualifying in law.

1944-  helped found the A.N.C youth League.

1950 - Faced with increasing government discrimination.

1952 -Opened the first black law firm in Africa.

1958 -Divorces Evelyn Mesa and marries.

1963 - He was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison.

1990 -release from prison.

1991 - Nelson Mandela became the ANC'S leader.

1993 -Awarded"Nobel peace prize"

1994 -  become his countries first black president.

1997 - He stepped down as ANC leader.

1998 - He  married third time.

1999 - His presidency in South Africa came to an end.

2004 - Mandela announced his retirement from public life.

2007 - He was unveiled in parliament, square London. 

2013 - He died at the age of 95.
